A fast 10k Road Race held on the Somerset Levels near Langport.
One of 23 races in the 2021 Somerset Series.
Message from Race Director , 2nd May 2020
"I was hoping this wouldn’t be the case but it is the right thing to do to cancel this years race, giving everyone involved long enough notice.
Guidance is telling us social distancing measures are likely to remain for many months in some form and it would not be irresponsible of us to go ahead and plan for a race of 500 people in high summer.
I am unable to source medals as businesses are closed, Huish Leisure is closed and likely to be in some form for a while. As a local community running club we also do not want to be faced with financial challenges having incurred fixed race costs we are then unable to recoup.
Unfortunately we will not be not postponing or doing it ‘virtually’ , so please don’t ask. Next years race will go ahead as normal, and those already entered will be automatically transferred to it.
I hope you understand our rationale and we are really disappointed but it’s the right thing to do.
However much we love racing, it is not a priority at the moment, staying safe and well is.
Thank you, best wishes and see you in 2021.
Mel Munday
Race Director"
Anyone who has already entered will shortly receive an email explaining about the automatic transfer to next years race and how they can request a refund if they prefer that instead.
